Question : about 30 min ago, it began to feel like my upper oropharynx is swollen, so I looked in the mirror and noticed that my tonsils look smaller, and seem like they are pressed against the back of my throat. I can still breath and swallow, but when I swallow it feels like I am trying to swallow a lot of mucus, but nothing is there. should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Mild congestion, routine medication if this persists.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Your throat and especially the uvula looks congested. There is a mild granular pharyngitis (inflamed normal lymphoid tissue at the back of the throat). This suggests a mild PND (Post Nasal Drip). Rest of the oral cavity and throat is fine,

2. A course of an anti-allergic, mucolytic, anti-inflammatory medication and a medicated gargle should settle this down if this persists.

3. Acid reflux, allergy, snoring and mouth breathing can also cause a similar feeling.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
