Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Forehead After Bug Bite

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: Hi,
I was in XXXXXXX and was bitten by some type of bug on my forehead. It seems to be 2 bug bites. I'm not sure what type of bug bite but the area directly surrounding the bug bites is swollen. Also my lymph node is swollen to what feels like the size of a dime on the same side of my face where I have the bug bites. I have no fever or any other symptoms besides looking like I walked into a wall and redness where I was bitten. Should I go see a doctor?

Brief Answer:
part of the body's normal inflammatory response

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Lymph node enlargement is part of the normal inflammatory response. It can sometimes take 4 to 6 weeks for an enlarged lymph node to return to normal even after the inflammatory process has resolved.

The swelling surrounding the area is also a normal part of your body's inflammatory response.

The use of anti histamines and anti inflammatory pain medication (even if there is no pain) would help to decrease the swelling in both areas if it is problematic.

Both of these would be available over the counter. Eg of anti inflammatory pain medication would include ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
