Question : husband just woke up with left sided swollen jaw, the site is cool to the touch
denies fever,

Possible salivary gland infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.

I understand your concern.

This swollen jaw could possibly result from infection of the major salivary gland like Submandibular.

In the initial stages it may not present with fever.

Empirical antibiotics like Tab Amoxiclav 625 mg one tab twice a day for 5 days will help to control the symptoms.

This treatment will resolve infection in almost all cases.

Further workup is needed only if the condition does not improve after 1 week.
