Question: All of a sudden my left ankle is very swollen. I've MS, but exercise everyday - until the swollen ankle. I also had a tooth pulled last week and jus went off pain pills (Ibuprofen- 800 or Tylenol with codeine plus regular Tylenol). Did painkillers cause it? Did going off pain pills cause it.

Brief Answer:
Get an xray, take treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Ankle swelling is not related to multiple sclerosis or tooth extraction. Pain killers related swelling occurs due to reaction and not after withdrawl.
Is there any history of ankle sprains, trauma, redness?
Get an Xray of ankle.
Elevate leg during sitting or sleeping.
Take pain killers and anti-inflammatory.
You may also try putting leg in hot water.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
