Question : started taking Bactrim for kidney infection 500mg twice a day. after 3 doses , i started having flushing feeling and noticed my feet and ankles were swollen. stoped the meds. was wondering how long reaction will twke to clear up ? im not taking any other meds, but i have had Bactrim before with mild side affects but nothing like this.

It does seem like you have developed a significant intolerance to Bactrim. Typical allergies to this medication include rash.

Regarding the swelling I would expect this to significantly improve within 12 to 24 hours. If these symptoms persist or get any worse than I think you should contact your primary care doctor for a follow up as soon as possible. The concern here would be that you have developed some degree of fluid retention.

I do expect your symptoms will be resolved in a short period of time. However, if you do not see significant improvement please contact your doctor for follow up.
