Question: I have a child around five months old.

When we were about to check in .the recptionst told us that room is not ready yet and asked us to wait.
But we told him to wait in room only and they can make room in front of us as we were quite tired.
In room i left my son on bed but i noticed some semen or some water type on bed sheet which was absorb buy bed sheet but it was still quite wet.
It was just a tocuh on it .
And my son touched his hand on it and put his hand into in his mouth as he usually put his mouth in his hand and suck.

When i saw it i immediately remove his his hand wipe it with water.
My son gums also puffed as his teeth will start coming after one or helf month later.
This activity took one or two minute to took place.

Please help.i am very much in fear that my son is on risk
of hiv and other disese.

Brief Answer:
Do not worry as we don't know what the liquid is and your son is normal now

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... I understand your concern but I suggest you not to worry, as we do not know what the liquid is and moreover your son is normal now.

I also agree that his gums are swollen because he is teething. But even then, there is no cut and he is not having any bleeding gums. So even that chance of spread through blood is unlikely.

But at the same time I agree with the theoretical possibility that there is exchange of moisture at the mucous membrane level. If this has happened today there is no way of finding out the possibilities. But they are extremely rare.

I suggest that you get in touch with your son's pediatrician regarding this for blood work up later on.

But I reassure you right now that there is extremely lowest possibility that something bad or infective could have happened.

Dear Sir.
Thanks.
But It was semen As i checked it myself ,but it was absorb by bed sheet and very lightly wet .
As i notice it was just a touch on it beacause he was not completly on it from his hand.

As soon as he put his hand in his mouth i pulled it out and took some water on towel and clean his hand.

Please suggest now. I am in very much of fear for my son.
As he is very small now.

Brief Answer:
Even if it is semen do not worry right now

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... even if it is semen, do not worry.

The possibility of transfer of HIV is very very least as it is not a constant exposure and there has not been any friction or transfer of body fluid completely.

Moreover you have wiped it out with a wet cloth -both his hand and the gums, so do not worry.

Your son will be normal.

But still if you are really worried, I suggest that you do a HIV ELFA test now and after 3 months and after 6 months. If all are negative then you need not worry.

Dear Sir.
Thanks

I heard and read on internet forums ,like Medhelp.org.
That hiv is very fragile virus bacame inactive once leave the human host and mouth is inhospitable place for virus.

And saliva also contain some enzyme which deactivate the virus.

Is this true sir.

Sir i am very.much anaxious for.my son and have sleepless nights.
