Suggest Treatment For Swollen Hamstring And Left Calf

Question: my left calf and hamstring is swollen. My left calf is about 1 and 1/4 in larger than my right calf. I also have weakness in the left hib and glute area. This resulted from an infection on my spine about 3 years ago. Could this be the result of Vascular disease???

Hello,
I have studied your case. Swelling in calf with is edema. It is most probably due to deep venous thrombosis (DVT). As you said that you have spine problem and weakness in left lower limb so it increases chances of DVT.
I have following suggestions for you.
1.Get Doppler examination so that you can confirm the diagnosis.
2.Ankle movement and calf squeezing exercises decrease DVT. Pumps are also available.
3.Increase mobility, avoid rest. Keep leg elevated over pillow.
4.Injection of low molecular weight heparin 5000 unit per day is advised.
