Question: I smashed my hand now it's swollen how would I know if it's fractured without an xray

Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and would like to advise you for the X ray as there is no other way to diagnose the fracture except an X ray. Moreover your hand is also swollen which also makes very difficult to diagnose whether fracture is present or not.
I would advise you to go to ER and get the X ray done to know the exact status.
