Lymphedema secondary to chemo and radiation. Needs management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. History of chemotherapy with swollen legs and feet can be a challenge as it is an inevitable sequelae of lymphadenopathy and lymphedema. I want you to know there is no cure for lymphedema. Like 90 % if the rest of the medical disease where cure is not possible and only management is done to relieve the symptoms.

Exercises are necessary part to help lymphedema. There are specially lymphedema therapist specialised in training patients for the exercises to reduce the swelling and increase the mobility of the limbs.

Wrapping your arms and limbs affected with swelling with compression sleeves and bandages can help reduce the symptoms and swelling.

A special massage therapy is available also called manual lymph drainage therapy well know to all massage therapist which helps in drainage of the lymph and reduce swelling.

Also there are devices available called pneumatic compressions that itself compress and relax and help move the lymph in to the circulation and prevent pooling.

In order to avoid complications follow following precautions.
>Avoid vaccinations, injections, blood pressure monitoring, blood drawing, and intravenous administration in the arm affected.
>Do not wear tight-fitting clothing or jewelry.
>Be aware of exposure to extreme temperatures, such as sunburns, hot baths, and saunas.
>Watch for early signs of infection such as redness, swelling, increased warmth, tenderness, or fever.
