default
Posted on Fri, 20 Nov 2015
Question: hai i am getting engaged in an another 2weeks and my fiance now has swollen neck and is diagnosed as tb of lymph nodes. My parents are now hesitant about taking the match further, worried about tb getting transmitted to the opposite partner and other long term effects. He also has a tumor that looks quite obvious because of the swollen lymph node. Can we proceed for marriage? Will the swelling be drained? Will be have issues with sexual life?

Brief Answer:
No need to worry if it's TB.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Thanks for posting your query.

I went through your query and I can understand your concerns. I saw the pictures uploaded by you and very clearly it is Lymph node enlargement.

If it is TB of Lymph nodes then no need to worry, as TB is a completely curable disease. If he takes TB medicines for 6 months he will be totally fine.

If the lymph node is feeling soft it can be drained but if it is hard no need to drain. But most of the times in TB , the swelling comes down in 1-2 months on its own and there is no need to drain the lymph nodes .

There is nothing to be worried about sexually life .

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.

Thanks Sir,
I see relief now. Is there any antibiotic support that can bring down the Swelling in the next 2 weeks? This is an absurd question to ask, but as we have engagement ceremony on 14th of this month, we are thinking of calling off the occasion due to the swell.

Also, Are their any other common words to refer to my parents and other relatives other than "Tuberculosis". The word sounds heavy and people are real worried when i say it is TB. Can i say, it is some abscess and will be cured with medical surveillance.

Thanks in advance!!

Hello Sir
This probably would be my last concern. Attaching his medical prescription for your perusal. Please let us know, if he can start using Levofloxacin and Serratiopeptidase besides the prescribed medicines.

If yes, kindly let us know the usage of Levofloxacin and Serratiopeptidase (when and how many times a day).

On usage of these medicines, are there possibilities that the swelling come down a little in the next 7days. Sorry for bothering you so much on this.

Thanks for being informative and helpful. Appreciate the support

Brief Answer:
Levoflox can be taken with other medicines.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Yes Levofloxacin and serratiopeptidase can be taken together along with the prescribed medications .

In my practise I recommend my patient to take Levofloxacin 500mg once a day and Serratiopeptidase is a fixed dose tablet to be taken 3 times a day. Kindly discuss this with your doctor before starting the medicine.

In next 7 days swelling may come down slightly not significantly.

Regards.
