This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
You have provided a very short history so it is very difficult to come to a conclusion from the above.
I would ask you the following questions-

Mention the approximate size and shape of the nodule. Also, the consistency i.e. whether it is hard or soft.
The duration since when you have noticed it.
Whether any associated pain or not.
Whether there is any history of trauma.
Whether you had any sore throat or fever etc.

Also it would be very helpful if you could provide a picture.
It might be due to various causes- most commonly due to acute infection, there can be swollen lymph node; also various chronic infections or neoplastic conditions might present with such nodes; a local trauma can present with such swelling too.
Your doctor has given you antibiotics so he/she treated you for probable infection.

Anyways, kindly answer the above questions so that I can help you further.

Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards

The node is oval shape approximately one inch diameter by one half inch diameter. It is hard and tender. It was associated with a sore throat and it is difficult to swallow. I don't recall having a fever with it. It has been there approximately 4 weeks.
Additional information as requested I a above.

Brief Answer:
follow as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the information.
Such a swelling for 4 weeks can be lymph node enlargement due to chronic persistent infection. You have taken course of antibiotics, still it is tender and persisting.
Hence some specific test should be done and the best will be clinical examination by a surgeon and lymph node biopsy if required.

Regards.
