Suggest Treatment For Swollen, Tender And Red Scar On Chin

Question: My teenage daughter has a scar (four years old) on her chin. It healed fairly well and was starting to blend in. Recently, though it has become quiet swollen, tender and red. Any ideas what might be causing this and how we can maybe treat it?

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of scar for the last 4 years on the chin of your teenage daughter.
Healed quite well but started to become swollen, tender and red.

This is called hypertrophy of the scar.
The treatment at home can be applying the compression dressing and this is possible as the scar is on the chin. You may please buy and ready-made stick-on dressing and apply in such a way that there is a compression on the scar.

Yet better way is to consult your Doctor, get a prescription for anti-oxidant capsules, may be learn a proper way practically of compression dressing and get prescription for some ointments like contractubress or such ointments, oral or intralesional steroid injection.

Or he may advise for a referral to the Plastic Surgeon.
