topical and oral pain killers, gargle
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Swelling of the tonsils is most commonly due to an infection. Infections can be viral or bacterial but viral infections are more common of the two.
If there is also a prolonged fever present then the infection may be bacterial.
You should:-
(1) Gargle with salt water or soluble Aspirin
(2) Use a topical pain killer such as Chloraseptic spray or gargle or Covonia throat spray or Difflam
(3) Use an oral anti inflammatory pain killer such as Naproxen or Ibuprofen or Cataflam
If there is no improvement then you should consider seeing your doctor for assessment.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask questions.
