Suggest Treatment For Swollen Uvula And Cough Along With Dark Phlegm

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Nov 2015
Question: I flew home from Paris Thursday. Started feeling weak early Friday and woke up at 4am with a swollen uvula that is touching my tongue and coughed up very thick dark phlegm. I have an antibiotic (amoxicillin 875mg, 20 pills, not expired) that my doctor prescribed me last winter before a business trip in case my cold progressed while i was on the road. my cold had gotten better so i never took the antibiotic. i do not have a fever. The very sore throat, difficulty swallowing, dark phlegm and swollen uvula have convinced me that i most likely have a bacterial infection i picked up on the plane and that the amoxicillin may be appropriate now.
have also started drinking Emergen-C super orange immune supplement. i have also used the Zicam nose spray about 4 times in the last 15 hours.

Brief Answer:
You are most probably having URTI mostly bacterial.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.
As per your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having upper respiratory track infection (URTI) mostly bacterial .

If I were your treating doctor , I would advice
Antiseptic chlorhexidine Mouth Wash twice daily ,
Tab Paracetamol for sore throat twice daily,
Antihistaminic like Tab Claritin at night &
antibiotic amoxicillin 875mg twice daily after meal .

Continue Emergen-C super orange immune supplement ,Zicam nose spray only twice-thrice daily & NeilMed sinus rinse thrice daily .

You will get relief .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
