Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of GERD

Question : Pain in the middle of the lower half of the trunk with a discomfort under the right breast going towards the sternum, this also cause me to breathe faster as my chest seem to move rapidly, also there is a burning along the lower abdomen on both close to the pelvis. Get progressively worse during the day only to calm down around 5-6 am and repeat the next day after eating or drinking. I have been sent for ultra sound and the doctor said there was nothing there, still the symptoms continue to make me very uncomfortable when I am awake and when I just go to bed. Sometimes I take an aleeve. I am currently taking the following medications:

Hydrochlorthiazide- Apo 25 mg1000's - 1/2 daily
Losartan Potassium 28's x30

Hi,

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say that your symptoms may be related with :
- GERD ( acid reflux disease)
- heart issues( rarely)
If I were your treating doctor I would suggest to do
- upper endoscopy to better evaluate esophagus and stomach mucosa.
- heart US and ECG
Meantime I would suggest to:
- use prilosec OTC and gaviscon as antacid.
- avoid coffee and chocolate
- eat often and small amount of meal
- eat 3-4 hours before going to bed
- use two pillows when you lay down
- avoid unnecessary stress
You should stop using Aleve because it is NSAID's drug and it can worse gastric issues. You can use acetaminophen instead of aleve.
