Question: I have bad pressure in jaw joints TMJ neck shoulder pain. Ears feel like under water and muffled like going crazy since last Thursday. Minute clinic said i have fluid behind both ears. Urgent care said i have allergy cold. I do have allergies. But i can tell my main issue is my jaw joint mufflung my hearing as meds for allergies do nothing to help and flexeril did allivate it. I took a flexeril last saturday which did help some. Due to grogginess and may alcohol usage of 4 drinks a day after 24 hrs of taking it i drank. I feel like i really need to take more of the flexeril again. I had 2.5 drinks today last around 12:45pm. I dont want to do both at same time as i heard it was bad. How long should i wait for flexeril again? Suggestions? Trying to cut back currently on the alcohol part. Need the flexeril but i know it stays in system and i dont want to harm my body

Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube blockage

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
You are having eustachian tube blockage due to nasal congestion.
The TM joint muffling mighy be due to this only.
You should take a nasal decongestant but it is contraindicated with alcohol.
Use xylometazoline nasal drops 3 times daily
2 drops each.
Take steam inhalation and chew a gum that will help to decongest the tube.
Avoid eating anything very hard on the involved side.
If you can avoid alcohol than only i must prescribe you rest of the medicines. Avoid flexeril till that too.
Wish you get well soon.
Thanks and regards

I dont feel i have a blockage although possible. My ears are clear and nose is only somewhat stuffy and clear the rest of the time. When i blow my nose or sniff the muscles in Jaw and neck get extemely sore. Some relief comes when i dont do that as much. Jaw feels tight near ear on flexeril it lossesns. I do feel like i need to take it so my question was can i have a drink or two like 12-18 hrs after and then as long as i wait 4 hours after drink can i safely take the flexeril? I know alcohol isnt good and i am working on getting that gone. But for now how can I safely do both. The dr. Only gave it to me for bed time as needed not for around the clock. The other advice you gave me seems good and cant hurt to try for sure as I do have seasonal allergies. Thanks so much

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up query.
Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. You can take it twice a day also if required. It has known adverse reaction with alcohol. So you should not take it within 12 hrs of alcohol intake.
You are always welcome with any further questions.
Take care
