Question : This is going to sound strange but for the past week both my ears on the top are itching very bad and I do not know why. I used antibiotic ointment which did not help. Maximum strength Cortizone 10 did help but the itching still persists. The only new product I did use was Keranique shampoo which is free of sulfites, dyes and parabens. I do not have this problem anywhere else. Do you know what this could be?

Hello Madam.

I can certainly understand your concern.

As per your symptoms, you possibly seem to have fungal otitis externa- a condition in which there is fungal infection of the external ear.

For this , I generally prescribe EAR drops of CANDIBIOTIC , 2 - 3 drops in the affected ear three times a day for 2 weeks.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to you.

Stop Cortizone .
