Posted on Wed, 13 Jul 2016
Question: hi. I am getting readings twice a day on 2000 mg of Metformin of about 108 and have cut down on my portions quite a bit. I am really hungry but feel the 108 is good compared to the 229 I was at before I started back taking it after a year being off of it due to insurance reasons. Should I be eating more often maybe or does my stomach just need to adjust to my smaller portions and my glucose will continue to lower?

I suggest reducing the dose of medicine, while maintaining the diet.'
An Almost normal sugar, with constant craving can precede a hypoglycemia.
The effects of hypoglycemia are more severe and so are the consequences.
I would suggest maintaining the sugars at 120.
I think meeting your diabetician for a prescription for a lower dose of metformin may help you.
Best of luck, Dr Mittal.
