Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Question: I have pain/discomfort in my lower abdomen. This is increased after eating. Shortly thereafter or 10-15 minutes thereafter I experience increased discomfort in the form of mild/moderate cramping. This is decreased with a bowel movement. The stool is loose and approximately 50% of the time in the form of diarrhea. There appears, at times to be some mucus but no blood or black stool. My last colonoscopy was 10 years ago and was non-significant re; findings. I have no family history of GI/pancreatic cancer. I'd describe this pattern as uncomfortable and persistent over the past 10-14 days. I have, during this period, felt "pre-flu" like symptoms albeit without fever or polyarthralgia. I have a primary care physician who I will contact this Monday (12/19). I'd appreciate your opinion. Many Thanks!
