Posted on Fri, 10 Jun 2016
Question: I have myestenia gravis and am on cellcept. My usual symptoms are chewing and swallowing. I have a problem with rapid breathing and I get out of breath with any minor exercise, such as walking and carrying thing. I have been to a pulmonologist and a cardiologist and the neurologist and no one seems to think it is their problem. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Second opinion by a Neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Myasthenia gravis affects voluntary musculature resulting in extreme fatigue in some cases, muscles of breathing (diaphragm and intercostal muscles) may be involved too.

Since common symptoms were related to chewing and swallowing, breathing problems may indicate progression of the condition.

So, in my opinion, yours is a matter that belongs to Neurologist.

If your Neurologist doesn't agree with this, I suggest you to have a second opinion by another Neurologyst.

Controlling better the basic condition should improve symptoms too.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
