Suggest Treatment For Tendonitis In Wrists

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Dec 2015
Question: Was told by my doctor yesterday I have tendonitis in both wrists but the name started with a "D". From lifting my grand babies and packing & lifting boxes from moving mother to Assisted Living in April. Ice does help, but he suggested wrist braces and I take Naprosyn for my RA. So painful I have hard time starting car, turning door knobs, and opening bottles or jars already open. Any suggestions? Thank you!

It is bilateral de quervain's disease. A type of tendinitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You are probably suffering from bilateral de quervain's disease. Its initial treatment is rest to wrists( may be with braces) for 2-3 weeks and analgesic such as ibuprofen. But many times it doesn't respond to this.
I found in my patients not responding to rest and analgesic injection triamcilone locally in tendon sheaths along with rest and analgesic very effective in treatment. You can try this ( injection triamcilone locally in sheath) with consultation of your doctor.
Sometimes in very resistant cases ( rarely) operative treatment (release of tendon sheath) is needed. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
