Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Your symptom is common after cold and flu.
But time interval of 4 weeks is very long.
Simple cold should subside in 1-2 weeks.
So in my opinion, you should follow these steps.
1. Do regular warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
2. Drink plenty of fluids orally.
3. Do steam inhalation 5-6 times a day.
4. Avoid oily and spicy food.
5. Avoid hard to chew food.
6. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
7. No need for antibiotic at present. You need to take anti inflammatory and antihistamine drugs.
Please let me know
1. Do you have fever?
2. Do you have cough?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

No I don't have a fever but I do have a cough which is to clear my throat. I sleep well but as soon as I get up and eat or drink (besides water) I start coughing or trying to clear my throat. It is not constant, mainly after I have eaten or drank. Also does dairy products make it worse or is that just a myth
Also since I was ill , I have been using a lot of citrus as people say that helps
Your symptoms are more like aspiration.

Iam taking doxycycline sandoz 100mg ans nasonex nasal spray. Seems like everytime I eat or drink a warm drink in particular that the coughing to clear the throat of mucus becomes worse
Nasonex can cause throat irritation.

Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Dairy product allergy is less likely in your case.
In my opinion, your problem of clearing throat mucus is mostly due to nasonex nasal spray.
Nasonex is having mometasone. It is inhaled corticosteroid. It is used in allergic rhinitis.
It can cause side effects of throat irritation, inflammation, infection etc.
So your symptom of continuous throat mucus sensation can be due to nasonex spray.
So discuss this with your doctor and if possible stop this spray.

Do you have symptoms with everything you eat?
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Symptoms like cough and clear mucus with eating clearly suggest either aspiration or food allergy.
So please let me know
1. Do you have symptoms with everything you eat?
2. Have you ever undergone barium swallow?
3. Do you have symptoms while drinking liquids?
4. Do you have other skin lesions like rashes, itching etc?
5. Do you have frequent diarrhoea, abdominal pain etc?
I am asking this because food allergy cause diarrhoea, Abdominal pain and skin rashes first.
So please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.

I don't think you are having food allergy.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
By your description, I don't think you are having food allergy.
You might be having problem with reflux. This causes throat irritation and urge to clear throat.
So better to get done endoscopic examination of throat and barium swallow to rule out reflux disease.
