Question : I'm being treated for a sore Achilles heal and outside ankle. Yesterday I had some physical therapy which included some painful massage. This morning and throughout the day I noticed the vein over the outside ankle protruding, which is not normal for me. I'm a 58 year old male.
Brief Answer:
Thrombophlebitis
Detailed Answer:
hi thanks for your question.
if the protruding vein is swollen, painful and tender to the touch then you could have thrombophlebitis or inflammation in the vein.
this condition usually responds to an anti inflammatory medication and icing of the affected area. typically it is self limiting and improves with time!
I hope this answers your question.
best wishes
