Suggest Treatment For Thyroid Disorder And Depression

Question: My grandaughter has thyroid disorder and depression. I will be doing annual visit next week, and want to know how to approach her. We were close the first few years of her life, but almost lost touch completely when she/family moved out of state (Alaska to Wisconsin)...
I didn't report that my grandaughter is 20 yrs. old and didn't return to the University of Wisconsin for her XXXXXXX year. She was a pre-med major.
Grandaughter is / was overachiever - spent summers in France and Japan, plays violin, over achiever. Loving parents, but also controlling.

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your question.
You need to have a personalised approach when dealing with her. My suggestion would to learn a bit about her.

Best is to get some information abot her likes/dislikes/hobbies etc from either her parents or from her facebook page. That would be very valuable. Also, it is better to get in touch with her parents first to know about her current status, mood, etc. An young woman like her may not like someone asking about her depression or ill health with out being sufficiently close to her. Since you have not had contact with her for long, it is better not to ask or discuss anything about her disease/depression or the things she dislikes.

She may appreciate if you discuss about her hobbies etc. Please try to learn a bit about her and contact herself and her parents by email . That is the first step. After making contact with her via email, try to send a couple of text messages and observe her reply.

After develping a rapport with her, it would be easier for yourself to approach her when you meet her directly next week. Eventhen, it is best not to discuss anything which she dislikes until you become sufficiently close with her.

Regards
Binu
