Posted on Mon, 20 Jul 2015
Question: I went up to 10mg after talking with my doctor. It seems to be helping me to have
energy to try and rebuild my life. My tinnitus seems to be getting worse. My ears
ring all the time. Not to be a baby but I feel like I have been through Hell and Back.

Brief Answer:
infrequent side effect of lexapro.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

I understand your concerns.

Tinnitus is a very infrequent side effect of lexapro, rarely reported in medical literature.

Unfortunately, it has worsened after dose increment in your case.

As it is bothering you seriously, I think a drug change (to a different class) would further be needed.

I would suggest wellbutrin. This drug has entirely different mechanism of antidepressant action. Hopefully, this should suit you. Kindly discuss this with your doctor.

Tinnitus would gradually decrease with drug change.

I wish you speedy recovery.
Take care.
Thanks.
