Brief Answer:
Tinnitus. More information needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Clicking sound in ear when no external noise is present, or tinnitus is a symptom that may be related to several conditions ranging from age related hearing changes, earwax blockage and ear bone changes, to serious neurological conditions such brain vascular fistulas and brain lesions.

Medications such aspirin, antidepressants, diuretics, some antibiotics also may cause tinnitus.

There is need for more information about your general health condition, any previous disease, any medications used, any tests done and if any other accompanying symptoms, in order to narrow the possible causes and guide you further.

I have been taking this combination for about ten years, but only now having tinnitus.why??

Answered by Dr. Dr. Erion Spaho (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Aspirin dose.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Only high doses of aspirin can result in acute tinnitus.

In your case, prolonged use of both, aspirin and simvastatin can lead to damages of the hearing apparatus with slow progression.

In other words, tinnitus is a late side effect of prolonged use of these drugs.

Hope I helped you.

Best regards.
