Suggest Treatment For Tonsilloliths

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I used to sporadically have tonsiliths and recently more frequent weekly and only on the right tonsil. Looking at my tonsils the left appears normal but the right appears enlarged with several crevices. I notice I lift my chin slightly when I swallow because I feel swelling. In the fall everyday my voice was hoarse until the afternoon but my thyroid ultrasound did not show any goiter or nodules

Brief Answer:
No need to worry, just gargle with diluted hydrogen peroxide

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern; and I would like to suggest that no need to worry just gargle with diluted hydrogen peroxide.
I would like to inform that tonsilloliths, also known as tonsil stones, are clusters of calcified material that form in the crevices of the tonsils. They may be a nuisance and difficult to remove, but are usually not harmful.
If your condition not improved even after this then better to go for the tonsillectomy.

Hoarseness of your voice most probably may be due to the hypothyroidism because it causes the weakness in the muscle (laryngeal muscle weakness). But to rule out the disease and to reach the near diagnosis you may go for the laryngoscopy and stroboscopy.
