Question: I have pain from my tooth which gives me a headache the tooth has been refilled 4 times. My dentist said maybe the first dentist touched a nerve I don't know what to do to stop the headaches and pain. I won't call it tooth ache cos the pain is from my gum to my neck to my head I think it has to do with a nerve I'm not sure. Any suggestions on what is causing this and what to take

Brief Answer:
An MRI jaw is essential.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

You possibly have Orofacial pain secondary to either Temporomandibular joint disorders Or Headache from dental stress as evident from your clinical history.

To rule this out i advise you to have an MRI of your TMJ,as pain in your case is refractory and recurrent. This can accurately diagnose any joint pathology at the earliest.

Further Definitive management would depend on the test results.

Meanwhile to alleviate your pain,i advise you the following.

1.Place ice pack on the area for 10 min ,3-4 times a day.
2.Chew soft foods.
3.Keep upper and lower teeth slightly apart, except while chewing.
4.Sleep on your back.
5.Do not rest your chin on your jaw, while talking on the phone don't rest the receiver on your shoulder.
6.Pain can be managed with drugs like clonazepam and pregabalin.consult your doctor to get these medications.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
