Question : Hi. Ive been having pain and discomfort on my uppper left side for the past month or so. I went to the dentist- he said the crown and the root canal was fine but he sent me to the oral suregon since my wisdom tooth is coming in. When i went to the oral surgeon he told me he saw an infection on the root canaled tooth and i need an apico. He suggested taking the wisdom tooth out at the same time as he said its easy but i said lets just do the apico. I had the procedure done yesterday but i am still very swollen, sore and having pain. He said the surgery went well and told me to take antibiotics and pain meds. Is it normal for the tooth to be very sore and hurt? Also the gums are all inflamed. He has me on amoxicillan 2000 mg a day. Is this normal? The other thing i was wondering is it ok for an oral surgeon to do this type of surgery or should i have had an endosontist do this? Thank you so much. Happy new year!

Recovery period takes few days to one week time period . Follow postoperative instructions given by your doctor . Take proper course of antibiotics.
