Brief Answer:
Tenosynovitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
We call this as trigger thumb or medical jargon called stenosing stenosynovitis.
The reasons are not clear.
however you should buy a thumb splint and wear it at night so that the thumb is not flexed.
If there is pain you can take Ibuprofen as well.
Avoid activity that cause flexion of thumb till it is cured.
If this doesn't work a steroid injection is given at the joint to release.
