Brief Answer: insulin and exercise is best solution. Detailed Answer: Hello, i can understand your agony. I want to tell you following points. 1. Type 1 diabetes need insulin and blood sugar can be controlled by this only. 2. Any stress, fever, exam need energy in body, so body produced more glucose, it is quite normal response of body and called Gluconeogenesis. 3.So whenever any condition of stress is present dose of insulin has to be readjusted. 4.As soon as he is in normal condition insulin dose also come down. 5. making strict glucose control is not necessary as low glucose is also XXXXXXX try to make sure that there should not be much fluctuation in glucose level. 6. Never ever go for ayurvedic, any homeopathic or water therapy as all these systems has no scientific basic, people get more complication then treatment after following these methods. 7. HBA1C level are marker of long term sugar control and it has to be below 8.6 . You have to understand that your son's body is not producing insulin so we have to supply it from outside. If insulin level is normal, he will live along and normal life, so do not be panic. Research are still going on and who knows we can find a better treatment. I hope i had answer all your queries. Please let me know if you want to ask any thing else.

Dear Dr, Thanks for your prompt reply . Today we had been there for regular check up with our Dr at Chennai. Today's HBA1C level is 9.5. This range is prevailing for the last three check ups ( 3 month intervals). I have explained him low glucgoles levels at early hrs ( 2am/ 4 am ) two times since last 15 days . He has changed bed time insulin to moring ( tershiba - 20 unists / XXXXXXX 12 units in the morning / 12 units XXXXXXX in midday / 12 units XXXXXXX in the night ) with Cetphine 1000mgm 1 tablet in morning and night ) . Whether this will control the fluctutations of sugar levels . Presently my son stays in the hostel studying 1 st Year B.Tech. His academic schedules are very tight . He is taking insulin in the hostel room and go for the meal ( within 5 minutes) . This timing is Ok. Are he should take insulin shot in the mess hall itself . As advised by you we will not venture in to the any other conurty treatment . My sister in law is a Doctor who practice Siddha . She suggested for alternatives and hence i seek your advise. Recent times by news items as well as web sites , i get to know many items like XXXXXXX going to intrioduece once a week insulin. Mayo clinic in US coming out many reasearch papers to cure Type 1 . Is the recent findings hope for early treatment for permanent cure . Is cure is available any where in the Globe . Thangarai

Brief Answer: insulin treatment needs to be individualized Detailed Answer: Hi, If your son's sugar level become normal then you can continue otherwise change it accordingly. There is nothing like standard care and insulin doses may vary from person to person. So keep it for some time. Doses of insulin should be taken in mess and i will not recommend hostel room as some time it can be serious. Siddha and all other treatment can be run in parallel to insulin but as i emphasized never stop insulin There is always hope that soon oral insulin will be available and no need for painful injection. Regards,

Brief Answer: Emergency care Detailed Answer: One more thing I want to add that a diabetic person can go in hypoglycemia and become unconscious. So he should always keep sugar in his pocket. And information about this should be there written in common language so that in case of emergency person standing near can help him. I hope this information will be useful for him. Good luck!!!
