Question : I was diagnosed two nights ago with an Umbilical Hernia. I have actual abdomen pain but ER doctor said I could wait til Monday to call a surgeon. However, I now have blood and pus which smells terrible pouring out of my belly button. Should I go back to ER or wait to call surgeon tomorrow?

Please post the picture if you have no objection.
As per your description, it looks like a Umbilical sinus.Pus and Blood doesn't come from Umbilical hernia. Ultrasound abdomen will give a clue.
You can wait for a Surgeon as there is no Emergency.
Till then,please clean the pus and blood.Apply dressing.
Antibiotic and anti inflammatory medicines have to be started initially. Surgery is the next option if there is no response with medicines.
Recently , I operated a patient with the same complaints. I removed the abscess cavity along with sinus tract.He recovered completely.
Nothing to worry.
