Suggest Treatment For Uncomfortable Knot In Calf

Question: Every time I flex, I have this knot that I can see on my calf. I'm a runner, and I typically do really hard workouts. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been really ramping up on the intensity of the workouts, doing things like cycling and weight lifting on top of the running, and I thought this might be the reason it has formed. The knot doesn't hurt, and again, I only notice it when I flex. Also, it is not huge, and it feels kind of rubbery when I push on it.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query and attached photograph I concluded that you probably got rupture of some of fibers of your calf muscles as you are working out hard and knot is noticed when you flex indicated its muscle origin. As it is small and does not hurt. Nothing is to be done. If you notice any decrease in strength of your muscle power, then you need to visit your doctor for its examination.

Second possibility is subcutaneous lipoma which is benign lesion. Again it needs nothing to be done except observing it for any increase in size.

You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
