Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your blood pressure is above the normal ranges.

Anyway, a single blood pressure values is not a true indicator of uncontrolled high blood pressure ( it could be also related to physical or emotional stress). That is why I recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure ( in sitting position after 10 minutes of total relax) frequent times during the day for the next couple of days ( up to a week) and refer those values to your doctor.

If your blood pressure values are above 135/85 mmHg most of the time, it would be indicative of uncontrolled high blood pressure and you may need anti hypertensive therapy.

Further investigations are necessary to exclude other possible causes of secondary hypertension:

- complete blood count
- thyroid hormone levels
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests
- fasting glucose and HbA1C
- PCR and sedimentation rate.

Regarding your blood lipid profile, I would explain that it indicates dyslipidemia ( high cholesterol levels and high Total cholesterol/HDL ratio), imposing you to a higher cardiovascular risk.

I would recommend starting a statin (simvastatin, pravastatin) for this purpose.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Some lifestyle modification ( low fat and salt intake, a lot of physical activity) are necessary too.

I would be happy to review your tests for another professional opinion.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
