Question : I have been expeiriencing pain in my upper arms, mainly the right one for many years....it usually gets worse when i lay down at night...To relieve the pain i usually have to get out of bed and stand upright for about ten minutes and the pain subsides..The pain is usually worse if i have done any lifting that day,especially above my head. I think the pain originates from my shoulder but the pain is worst in theoutside of my bicep area..Can you tell me what it is.. Thank you

The pain in the upper arm and shoulder area is likely to be due to shoulder impingement syndrome or a frozen shoulder. Rotator cuff tendonitis also needs to be ruled out after a proper examination. It is best to avoid all overhead activities and consult an orthopedician for an MRI scan of the shoulder to find out the exact cause.
Till then a hot compress and applying local analgesic gel can help.
