Suggest Treatment For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: Recent onset (Thanksgiving?). Upper airway irritation. Achy, but no fever. Thin, watery mucous, Lots! Nose spray controlled. So I quit, when it did. Mostly better for weeks, but...

Starting early yesterday, intermittent aches returned. Felt better after Ibuprofen. Later Yesterday, I started an unproductive cough. Delsym. Worse today. Aches have returned, too. Temp, just now, is @ 101.1... No meds today, except 1 dose of Delsym.

I took the flu shot, earlier this fall.
I have been sorting and trashing lots of accumulated paper, and other clutter.
It also seemed to start, right after i was working in my friend's carpentery shop. Sawed a lot of lauan plywood.

Brief Answer:
Upper respiratory tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

It looks like you have recurrent upper tract infection most likely due to the dust of paper and clutter.

I recommend you to do the following

1. Try to stay away from dust and pollution for 5 days. If it inevitable then I recommend you to wear a N80 mask while at work
2. Gargle your throat three times daily with betadine gargles, if you are unable to tolerate the taste then warm salt water will do just fine
3. Avoid milk, milk products and oily food
4. Avoid cold beverages. Drink plenty of water
5. Continue to take Delsym, if you are still spiking fever at the end of 48 hours then I recommend you to start antibiotics like Tab Azithromycin, once a day for three days. To be taken 20 min before food. This is a prescription drug.
6. Tab Acetaminophen can be taken three times a day for fever

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
