Question: I am dripping a little from my penis. I am 62 years old. I am not dripping a whole lot
but some on my underwear and some feels like its landing on my thigh. I guess its pee.
I go to the restroom whenever I need to but it does not matter.

Brief Answer:
Urine control

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care questions

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with dribbling after you urinate. This is a very common problem with older men. The bladder sphincter does not close tight after urinating and then there is a little residual urine leakage. Be sure you completely empty your bladder and wait a few extra seconds before leaving the urinal. Also sitting instead of standing to urinate may help empty your bladder more completely.

We also recommend doing Kegel exercises. These exercises require the pinching of the rectal muscles several times a day. This strengthens the sphincter muscle and there will be less leakage. When exercises do not help then there are medications but they have significant side effects and may not actually help. The medication we sometimes try is oxybutynin but it has severe dry mouth and also cause bladder retention or inability to urinate.

In summary
1. common problem for men
2. sit instead of stand to urinate
3. wait a few extra seconds to allow bladder to empty completely
4. Kegel exercises
5. Medication Oxybutynin
