Suggest Treatment For Urinary Tract Infection

Question: I had a medication abortion nearly a month ago. Since then ice experienced burning in the pelvic area..mostly on the sides near ovaries but sometimes in the center/random spots. I was given misoprostol during the process of abortion. I experienced this right afterwards and went to the hospital where they did an ultrasound and found nothing. I am worried i have ovarian cancer or aboht something more sinister. I have never experienced this before. I should mention i gave birth to my daughter 4 months ago. Can you give me your thoughts on this matter? I dont think its exclusively cysts since its in random spots.

Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I understand your query about pain in lower abdomen.

Let me reassure you that its not cancer. Its possible urinary tract infection that generally happens after abortion or child birth.

Please get urine culture and sensitivity test done to check antibiotics which this infection is responsive to.

You can take these antibiotics which will cure this pain.

This is not a cyst nor cancer. Dont worry

Thank you for your answer. I understand your thoughts of urinary tract infection. However, there js no burning when i urinate and last time this happened they did a urine culture and all was fine. This happens periodicially throughout the course of the day...more at night. Some days worse than others. And i should also mention i have no pain...just a strange, stronge burning feeling in ovary areas and in the groin area.

Brief Answer:
Empirical antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi

if ultrasound is normal this is urinary tract infection which is not associated with burning micturition ( only present in bladder) called cystitis which causes this pain.

If urine culture is negative I suggest you take a course of broad spectrum antibiotics ( I am not sure if these are available OTC) like augmentin or Taxim. I am sure you will feel better after 7 days treatment.

Ok. This would possibly cause burning feeling in pelvic area including where legs meet pubic bone, like in the groin area? Thanks again for your help.
