Question: My 13yr. old son has had diarrhea for two days. We thought that it was nerve related because he had 4 tests in one day. It has not stopped. He has no fever, but the stool is dark greenish in color and very watery.
He has complained of dizziness and vertigo. He is currently on 10MG of Fluoxetine (three months).

Brief Answer:
Hello. It's likely a viral gastroenteritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Usually this is a viral gastroenteritis that runs its course in about five days. The dizziness and vertigo may be from mild dehydration and he needs to keep up with the fluid loss with electrolyte-rich fluids like juices and GatorAde. The BRAT diet--bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast--can help too.

If this continues beyond five days he needs to see a doctor for a stool culture to see if it's bacterial and requires antibiotics.
