Suggest Treatment For Viral Fever In A Child

Question: Hi, my daughter has a viral fever which is going on since Wednesday 29th Mar., late evening. The temperature has mostly been in the range of 99-102. We were administering Crocin DS for fever uptil 100, and Meftal P when the fever was 102.
We visited a pediatrician yesterday evening, and he said its viral and there is NO need to give Crocin DS, just give Meftal P (7.5ml) at an interval of minimum 8 hours, even if the temperature is above 99. I am somehow not comfortable with this application of medication. I wanted to know, is this something we should follow? So far we have given her Meftal P at the below timing
30th Mar: 4:30 am (temp 102, 5ml)
30th Mar: 11:30 pm (temp- 101, 5ml)
31st Mar: 8:30 am (temp-102, 5ml)
31st Mar: 4:30 pm (temp-100, 5ml)
My daughter is 5.5 years old. Weight is 25.5kg.
The doctor has further asked us to start her on Taxim O 100 mg (7.5ml * 2 times) from Saturday 1st April, if fever doesn't subsides, or frequency doesn't goes down. Has advised to start from evening.
I can see my daughter getting weak, this hasn't been the case before when she had viral.
We had to go to this doc, as her regular pediatrician is out of country. We are travelling on 5th April, so any advice that you can provide will be very helpful.

Brief Answer:
Meftal P contains mefenemic acid

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,
Meftal P contains mefenemic acid which is more for pain than for bringing down temperature.
You can definitely try crocin.
Regarding antibiotic, he is the best person to decide.
I would advise--try crocin, and if fever remains high and especially since you will be traveling--give her Taxim from tomorrow.
Regards
