Question: Hi, I picked up a virus 3 weeks ago. I still have a cough, feel general malaise, but better than I was. Is it normal for this to go on so long? Bit sweaty too!

Brief Answer:
don't need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I can understand your concern but you don't need to worry.Such symptoms are common in a viral infection of upper respiratory tract.
Usually the symptoms may last up to 2 weeks in a common cold but can last up to several weeks in flu (influenza virus infection).
The duration of symptoms is different in every person .
In a viral infection symptoms of fatigue, weakness, night sweats , are the last symptoms that resolve. The cough usually may last few weeks because the lining of respiratory tract ,damaged from virus ,needs time to recover.
You don't have any symptom that would indicate a problem and would require further evaluation.
Just give it some more time and all the symptoms will resolve gradually.
It is very important to rest, sleep well and eat a well balanced diet ,with lots of green vegetables and fruits.Drink plenty of water.

Hope this is helpful to you.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind regards,

Brief Answer:
you don't have any reason to suspect these condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

As I said previously a viral infection ( especially flu ) can take several weeks to resolve completely.Your recovery time is not concerning .
Your symptoms are not unusual so you don't need to worry about it.There is no reason to suspect cancer ,AIDS or any other disease. In such cases you would experience other specific symptoms that would indicate a more serious condition. So this is not the case.

Try to relax and just give it some more time. You will feel better day after day.

All the best,
Dr.Rovena
