Question : My 4 year old daughter started with fever late evening today . Has cold with blocked nose. Gave her calpol 5ml at 7.30 pm and 2.5 ml at 10.30 pm. Did sponging too. The fever came down only after sponging. But again the fever is 101.3 at 1.10 am. Not ready for like warm water sponging again. Can I give mefatal p now. Only 2.5 hrs since calpol 2.5 ml ddose.
Brief Answer:
You can give Meftal P now
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting on healthcaremagic. Your daughter is probably suffering from a viral infection. The temperature needs to be kept in control by the use of medicines or sponging and you are doing the right. Meftal P contains mefenenamic acid which is more effective than paracetamol in reducing temperature. You can give it in 2.5 hours from the dose of calpol and there is no problem in doing so.
