Question: Hi, my son is 5 years old and is been diagnosed with vitiligo. It started with a small white spot on his forehead and on his left leg. We stay in Congo XXXXXXX and we saw a doctor who prescribed fungal infection medicines and it started getting even worse. So finally after 3 months we got it checked with a doctor in XXXXXXX and she started the medication for Vitiligo. It has been already 5 months since we have started the medicines. Right now we are using all these medicines and creams.
- Syp Zn 20 2 tbsp BD
- Whitcare lotion OD followed by sun exposure
- Eczrid forte BD
- Melgain lotion BT
Betnesol forte 1 mg Betamethasone sodium phosohate tablets IP 1 mg
Dicaris children - levamisole hydrochloride tablet IP

For first two months we saw some improvement but now it has come to a halt and n9thing much is happening. Some spots were shrinking and few small spots vanished but now it has stopped. And the effected areas are mainly his forehead, hands, feet, behind his neck. Please suggest if we are going in a right direction with the treatment.
Sorry for a long post but I am really concerned because he is just 5 and his hair has already started turning white.

Brief Answer:
Add a tablet of trimethoxypsoralen

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr. Kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.

The treatment seems fine. I suggest you to continue with the above treatment. In addition you may also add a tablet of trimop forte 25mg (trimethoxypsoralen), to be taken 1hr and 30 minutes before sun exposure. Also would like to mention that expose to sun for about 15-20 minutes. Betnesol forte tablet and dicaris children tablet should only be taken only on 2 consecutive days in a week e.g every saturday/sunday.

Regards
