I have been suffering from laryngospasms every other nigh that are frigjtening and just got over a viral throught infection that caused a lot of coughing fits. An MRI has been scheduled for next week. I was also given a 12 day treatment of predisone to see if vocal cord will respond. Any advise to current treatment is appreciated.

I had gone through your question diligently and I ray appreciate your comments concern

Looking at your medical history you might had a viral infection of vocal cords, there are other reason also like laryngeal nerve injury or allergic reaction

your doctor has given you a right treatment prednisone will reduce the inflammation of vocal cords and also relieve laryngeal spasms

please follow your doctor sincerely and get an MRI to see for any residual damage to vocal cords

I would advise you to take steam inhalation and warm saline gargles with the prednisone
