Question : Hello Doctor, my daughter, 6 years old, weight 20 kg, has vomited twice. Once food, and second time water. Also saying head is paining. We do have Vomikind at Home. Please suggest how much in ml.
Brief Answer:
The dose is 0.2 mg/kg/dose
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Vomikind contains ondansetron an antiemetic.
Each 5 ml syrup of vomikind contains 2 mg od ondensetron.
The dose of ondensetron is 0.2 mg/kg/dose per oral.
Average weight of 6 years old child is about 20 kg.
So the dose of 4 mg will be sufficient which is 10 ml of vomikind.
You can repeat the dose every 8-12 hourly depending on the frequency of vomiting.
Persistence of vomiting even after giving vomikind can lead to dehydration.
In that condition or if headache worsens consult your physician for clinical evaluation.
Please do ask if you have any more query.
Regards
