Question : Yes, a few nights a go I thought I was getting the flu. I had I bout of vomiting & diarrhea & severe muscle pain. Turns out I really didn't have the flu but the muscle pain has stayed. The pain is gradually going away but I my knees and ankles aren't really swollen but feel like there is a ton of pressure in them when weight bearing. My knees crackle & creak when going from standing to seated position & it is difficult to get from seated to standing. This started Thursday. I am starting to think I should go to the dr.

Brief Answer:
Two possible scenarios in my opinion

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I cannot be sure but from the given information I have 2 possible scenarios coming to my mind:

1. You lost quite a lot of fluids and electrolytes from the bout of vomiting and diarrhoea which could have resulted in both dehydration as well as a drop in electrolyte levels. This requires adequate hydration (at least 3 litres of water per day) and the introduction of an energy drink (e.g. Gatorade) or an ORS (oral rehydration solution) to your daily regimen; which in turn should help reduce and gradually help the muscle and joint discomfort subside (both of which are symptoms commonly associated with dehydration and/or electrolyte imbalance)

2. Possible viral infection: Viral infections present with flu-like symptoms, muscle pain and joint discomfort. This may require a visit to a doctor, but I would either way recommend the introduction of an increased fluid intake and ORS or energy drink for about 24-48 hours and then deciding on whether a doctors visit will be required or not

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
