Question: Is this a wart?

Brief Answer:
thank you so much for asking your question, I will try my best to help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

is it possible to show me a picture of the lesion? or at least can you describe it? warts usually have a "cauliflower " like appearance and are pretty easy to identify. they are generally a nuisance only and not dangerous. however, sometimes various other types of lesions can appear similar to warts. so if it grows, or spreads or causes pain or discomfort you should see your doctor to make sure it is not something else.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

So, this started out as a ingrown hair, at least I believe it to be. I plucked the hair, then I squeezed the lesion and pus and blood came out. After that it continued to get better and less red. Now its pink and for the most part flat. Im very concerned that it may be a flat wart.

Brief Answer:
thank you for the explanation, this helps me understand what happened

Detailed Answer:
since it seems to have started as a different type of lesion, and not a wart, it is less likely that it became a wart. however, it could be that it was a wart to begin with, or that it happened to develop in the same area. it is still very difficult to tell without being able to see it. I would still recommend that you have it seen by a doctor. most of the time it will be obvious on exam. occasionally, a wart may need to be removed in order to get a definitive diagnosis. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.

Ok, I was able to upload pictures. Also I did go see a doctor, he said its nothing, he even looked at it with a magnifying type of medical eye wear, he prescribed neosporin, he thinks its either a pimple or an infected hair follicle.. My thinking as to why its not a wart are it had pus, it leaked clear fluid, and its not rough or coliflower like, plus a doctor said it was nothing. Im here to get a second opinion.

Brief Answer:
thanks for the pictures, this was very helpful

Detailed Answer:
the pictures were very helpful. it does not look like a wart at all. based on the picture, it looks like inflammation probably a result of the pimple or ingrown hair follicle that was popped and irritated. based on this information, I agree with your doctor and the neosporin. this will probably resolve on its own. if it spreads or gets swollen or doesn't resolve you should see the doctor again. however it does not look like a wart. especially since wafts generally do not have hair, but it really doesn't look like a wart. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.

So just to confirm, the fact that it had pus and hair and discharge points to it not being a wart correct? Also so it does not look like what is called a flat wart? My doctor did not say how long I can expect it to be red, what is your opinion?

Brief Answer:
I think you understood me correctly

Detailed Answer:
yes, this is correct. all the evidence points to this not being a wart. it doesn't look like one either. I can't say exactly how long it will last, but I would guess maybe a week or two at the most. I hope you get better and see this resolved soon. if it does not resolve or if it gets worse you should see the doctor again. however, I think it will get better soon. please let me know if you need anything else.
