Question : I have had diahreah for 4 to 5 days straight, it's watery and frequent. During the night I get up about every thirty minutes to an hour. It began at about 1am several days ago after dinning out. That night we dined out at approx 8pm.

thanks for posting query at HCM.

going through your history; it seems like diarrhea is due to food poisoning (dining outside)

most of such episodes of diarrhea are self- limiting.

advise:
1. stop any medication being taken to combat the diarrhea
2. fast for most of the day ( do not eat anything)
3. avoid dairy products
4. drink plenty of water and also drink OTC oral rehydrated solution to prevent loss of electrolyte and water
5. gradually introduce solid food - means just eat banana, plain yogurt , toast for couple of days
6. Avoid oily food, canned food, junk food, Alcohol for atleast 2 to 3 days.
