Question : What might be indicated as a result of a weak urine stream?

The urinary tract consists of the urethra, the bladder, ureter,kidneys.
Weak urine stream may be indicative of : (1) inadequate intake of fluids
(2)obstruction of some aspect of the urinary tract by a mass, stone, impacted feces, prolapse of the genital organs
(3)failure of the sphincter of the urethra (the tube that leads from the bladder) to relax
(4)side effect of medication
(5)back injury involving the spinal cord or other neurological diseases such as ms, stroke, diabetic nerve disease
(6)infection
If the problem persists then you may need to consider visiting the doctor for an assessment.
Investigations would look at: (1)urine analysis to check for infection if other symptoms are present
(2)imaging to take a look at the urethra and bladder- cystoscopy. Ultrasound may also be considered
(3)test called uroflowmetry which can check the rate and volume of the urinary stream
There are also other tests but these may or may not be done depending on the results of the above.
The treatment would depend on the cause found .
