Question : I am 30 years old. I was diagonised with hypothyroid condition around 10 years back. I had weight of around 90 kgs then. I started treatment of Levothyroxine and exercise to reduce weight. I am currently weighing 60 kgs but continue to be on thyroid medication. I walk for around 40-45 min each day currently. My thyroid reports show lot of variations. Wanted to check if I can be completely off medicines and diet I need to adopt
Brief Answer:
Low fat and low carbohydrate diet
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Getting completely off the thyroid medications is possible in most but not in all. Regular medication and its titration according to the thyroid hormone levels checked every 6 months is important.
As per diet, taking food with low fat and low carbohydrate is sufficient. There is no strict protocols needed to be followed in respect to diet in hypothyroid.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Low fat and low carbohydrate diet
